A Birthday is surely one of the most memorable & cheerful events in one's life. The main attraction in a birthday is usually the yummy birthday cake. Over the years, I have baked countless birthday cakes for my children. I have made them in all shapes and sizes, and in most cases, chocolate was involved! On your birthday, you generally get your pix taken with your birthday cake. Let's follow Natalie through the years.

Natalie came into this world on the 19th of October 1980. She arrived in the wee hours of the morning. It was love at first sight!

Not too many hours later, Johnny came to the hospital to meet his new sister.
Johnny is 2. Natalie is 10 hours old.

On her first birthday, Natalie was introduced to birthday cake. She squealed with delight!

Two little candles signify her second birthday. She is wondering if it's OK to dig in. Hey! Where's the silverware?

By the time she was three, we were celebrating her birthday with friends and costumes. Halloween is right around the corner!

Natalie was a sweet little bunny for her 4th birthday.

Five candles & a sweet smile! She is five!
Same pan, same cake~a year later!
I'm not sure what's going on with the white frosting. Unheard of!!! She's got some pretty do-dads dangling in her hair! Happy 7th!

On Natalie's 8th birthday, we had just moved to Anchorage. Here she is with Johnny, age 10, and Little Lu, age 5. Alpine Apts. This is obviously a store bought cake.

Puckering up for 9 candles, mom & Natalie both!
It looks like we've got a pumpkin cake.

German chocolate cake and eleven candles!

For her 12th, Natalie chose ice cream and no cake! What!?!

Dad delivering an oreo cake, a family favorite.
14th birthday.

On Natalie's 15th birthday, we were living in Naperville. She had to wait a very long time to blow out her candles. Johnny, Ben Rice & Greg Barton had some letter writing business to attend to. I remember this day like the back of my hand!

On her "Sweet Sixteen" birthday, Natalie received yellow roses. I have no cake to document the day.

Natalie left home at age seventeen. Her birthday cakes around the family dinner table were no more. From then on out, she has celebrated her special day away from home. On her 21st birthday, she was a married lady living in Logan, Utah. Holding up two fingers on her right hand, and one finger on her left hand to signify that she is twenty one.

What a pretty girl we have! Dad & I love you very much! We look forward to the time when we can, once again, gather around the table and sing in our not so melodious voices the birthday song that we have sang countless times!

I have really vivid memories of the store-bought cake birthday because it was the first and only time we had ever eaten a store-bought cake.
And I remember well the Ben & Jerry's too. And my 21st with Dylan. Don't remember the angel food cake one and the letter writing??
Thanks for the bday post. 30 was a big one!
xoxo
Wow...the homemade cakes must have made a big impression! ha, ha!!! The letter writing incident was when the boys had to write a letter to that woman that lived in the Cannon's cul-de-sac. They were apologizing for TPing and then dave demille threatened to burn the place down. this all came down on your birthday. it was a very l o n g day!!!
happy birthday dooooooders!
