As my birthday approaches, it has given me reason to contemplate and reflect on the last 55, yes, 55, years!
I was born to goodly parents on 2 August 1954 in Los Angeles, California.

I started Kindergarten, as most children did, at age 5. I remember being not all that thrilled about it. We had a pool in our backyard, and I would have preferred staying home to swim in the California sun.

By age 10, I was a happy girl and a happy student. I mostly liked recess, where I could play nation ball, kick ball or tetherball with the boys. Don't let the lace fool you. I was a tomboy.

At 15 I was in junior high. I was busy with school government and making good grades. I loved junior high. I had a great group of girlfriends and we were busy every minute of every day doing fun stuff. Life was grand !

By 20, my enthusiasm for school was OVER! I spent the majority of my college years on the ski slopes or the racquetball courts. Life was REALLY grand !

Just 5 short years later, I was a married woman with a toddler. We were living in Arizona where John was attending Arizona State University working on his PhD.

By 30 I was caring for 3 little ones.We lived in Houston, Texas. "I" turned into "we" as our little family grew.

Our family was complete by the time my 35th birthday rolled around. Alaska was our home and life was full of great adventure! My children were my career.

On my 40th birthday we said goodbye to our Alaskan home and headed for Chicago

By 45, my children were my very best friends. Life was very busy and fun and joyous !

When I turned 50, I had two married children, one in the mission field and was preparing to send the last one to the MTC. I was a grandmother !

Now at 55, I realize how beautiful my life has been! My children are wonderful, responsible people who are still my best friends. They are healthy and happy and the future looks bright for all of us. I am married to the love of my life. I have a strong & healthy mind & body which allows me to do all of the things I love. I have been richly blessed.
